    Chi Zeta Omega Chapter

    Charter Members

    2002

     

     Chi Zeta Omega Chapter was chartered on November 23, 2002 by the Honorable Shirley Fisher in Plano, Texas.  The establishment of the Chi Zeta Omega Chapter marked the chartering of the first Afro-American organization in Plano and the 125th chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated®.  The chartering group consisted of 26 extraordinary women from Plano and the surrounding areas.

    Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated®, was founded on the campus of Howard University in Washington, DC in 1908. Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated® is the oldest Greek-letter organization established by African-American college-trained women.     1st Chapter of South Central Region

    Chi Zeta Omega Chapter is a member of the South Central Region of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated ®. Of the ten current regions of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated®, the South Central Region is one of the largest in membership. After almost eighty years of service, the region has grown consistently and continuously in membership and chapters. There are more than 120 undergraduate and graduate chapters located in the four-state region of Arkansas, Louisiana, New Mexico and Texas.     On November 23, 2012 Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated ®, Chi Zeta Omega Chapter celebrated its 10th year of service.  Since its Charter Chi Zeta Omega Chapter has received numerous regional awards. We are proud of the work the chapter has done in our community.  This great work would not be possible without the commitment of the members of our chapter and dedicated leadership.
