The Build Our Economic Wealth Committee is excited to introduce a powerful initiative that speaks directly to our mission of service, sisterhood and economic empowerment - Black Dollar Days 2025 and we need your commitment in May to track $$$$ in June!
Throughout the month of June, we are coming together as a chapter to purposefully support Black-owned businesses by spending, sharing, and celebrating our collective economic power.
Here's how you can participate in May:
1. Commit NOW (until May 31st) to intentionally spend and track at Black-owned businesses throughout June (see attached QR code)
Here's how you can participate in June:
1. During the month of June, track your purchases using our simple Google Form (attached QR code)
2. Engage online by posting your purchases with the hashtag #BlackDollarDays2025
3. Join the FUN! Each week has a theme - from restaurants to retail - Sorors who spend and track at least $19.08 weekly will be entered into drawings for prizes. So grab your friends and sister squads and engage in a little friendly competition.
- Week 1: June 1-8 - Restaurants
- Week 2 : June 9 - 15 - Services (Salons, dry cleaning, home maint, auto, consulting, etc)
- Week 3: June 16-22 - Small Retail Businesses
- Week 4: June 23-30 - Large Retail Businesses
Why does this matter?
Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated recognizes our collective buying power. The Sorority expects to make an impact of over $8 Million Dollars in the month of June. Every dollar we spend is a vote for the kind of world we want to live in. By choosing to invest in Black entrepreneurs, we are helping to build stronger businesses, stronger communities, and generational wealth.
